Gyanesh Kumar is a former IAS officer and the current Chief Election Commissioner of India. He has worked with Amit Shah on various issues such as Jammu and Kashmir, Ayodhya, and cooperative societies. Shri Gyanesh Kumar took charge as the 26th Chief Election Commissioner of India on 19th February 2025. He is a 1988 Batch Kerala Cadre Officer of the lndian Administrative Service. On February 17, 2025, the Election Commissioner of India, Gyanesh Kumar , was officially appointed as the next Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) by the Law Ministry. Gyanesh Kumar , a 1988-batch IAS officer from Kerala, has been appointed as the new chief election commissioner of India. He played a key role in drafting the bill that scrapped Article 370 in J&K and handling documents related to the Ram Temple case in Ayodhya.
