Koplik spots are the peculiar spots present on the buccal mucosa and are considered a diagnostic/pathognomic feature of measles/rubeola in the pre-eruptive stage. The term Koplik spot derives its name from Dr. Henry Koplik of New York, who first described them in 1896. Enanthems are oral and mucosal rashes or spots that appear in many viral infections, particularly in children. They can be diagnostic of these diseases.
