This landmark collaboration ... Thalaivar 171 (tentative title) is one of the projects in actor Rajinikanth's line-up, and the movie was officially announced in September, 2023. The project marks the reunion of Jailer combo - Rajini, music composer Anirudh Ravichander and production banner Sun Pictures. Thalaivar 171 is being produced by Sun Pictures. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is concurrently engaged in his project with TJ Gnanavel titled Vettaiyan, slated for release later this year. Rajinikanth’s upcoming film, known as Thalaivar 171 , will be directed and written by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
