Establecer un waqf significa donar una propiedad para emplear sus beneficios por la causa Allah. Lo que se entiende por propiedad es algo de lo que se pueda obtener algún beneficio mientras que su esencia permanezca, por ejemplo, casas, tiendas, fincas, etc. Lo que se entiende por beneficios es el resultado que proviene de algún uso de esa propiedad, como los cultivos, los alquileres o el otorgamiento de refugio.
