A bicornuate uterus , which is similar to a heart-shaped womb is a peculiar prenatal development of the womb that gives way to the abnormal separation of the uterus into two parts instead of it being one. Participants will explore the embryologic development of the uterus, learn to distinguish a bicornuate uterus from similar anomalies using imaging techniques, and review current evidence-based approaches to management. A bicornuate uterus results from abnormal development of the paramesonephric ducts. There is a partial failure of fusion of the ducts, resulting in a uterus divided into two horns. A bicornuate uterus or bicornate uterus (from the Latin cornū, meaning "horn"), is a type of Müllerian anomaly in the human uterus , where there is a deep indentation at the fundus (top) of the uterus. A bicornuate uterus develops during embryogenesis.
