In 2008, BMW presented the M1 Hommage at the Concorso d’Eleganza on Lake Como – a design study to mark the 30th anniversary of the BMW M1 super sports car. The concept vehicle was an overnight sensation. We take a closer look at this fascinating one-off model. BMW M1 Initially conceived as a Group 4 homologation special, the M1 came to life with heavy Italian involvement; Lamborghini for chassis development, Dallara-tuned suspension, and striking lines by Italdesign, who handled major aspects of production in conjunction with German builder Baur. Just 397 road cars and 53 Procar race cars were built between 1979-1981.
