I have just found out my Father has been buying gold coins from Rosland Gold UK and they have been selling him vastly over priced coins eg 1oz Gold Coin £5000+ but I have had it valued at £1500 also a 1oz Platinum coin £5500 which I have had valued at £600. I have £60 of old £5 coins, where can I go to exchange them? Tried doing a search online but nothing helpful comes up. Hi all, sorry if this question has been asked previously. I use a personal account for my business to save on fees and my bank (Barclays) have said I need a business account to obtain change from them on a regular basis. However, once a coin has been demonetised, banks are under no obligation to accept them. Nevertheless, many banks will accept demonetised coins from members of the public providing they have a bank account with them. Policy may vary from bank to bank, and some may charge a handling fee.
