About the School School of Applied and Interdisciplinary Sciences (SAIS) at IACS has been founded in May 2018 by reorganization of the erstwhile Polymer Science Unit, Center for Advanced Material, Director’s Research Unit and Organic Chemistry as part of the Academic Reform at IACS. At present, IACS has more than 400 research students/associates working under the guidance of about 67 faculty members working in physics, chemistry and biology. A national institution for higher learning and research in basic sciences, founded in 1876 by Dr. Mahendra Lal Sircar.
