Italic: How do I configure

How do I configure VS Code to support italic styles, like in this picture? My current settings: { "editor.fontLigatures": true, "editor.fontFamily": "Operator Mono" } What is the difference between these two: font-style: italic font-style:oblique I tried using the W3Schools editor but was unable to tell the difference. What am I missing? For my legend in ggplot2 I have 2 categories, how do I italicize only 1 category and not the other? As an example, consider the following plot.
