What is Training and Development ? Training and Development , often abbreviated as T&D, refers to the continuous efforts of an organization to enhance the performance of its employees. Training is about providing employees with specific skills or knowledge to improve their current job performance. Development , on the other hand, focuses on employee growth and future performance, rather than an immediate job role. Training is a process whereby the focus is on enhancement of skills, knowledge and attitude of employees so that they can excel in their current job, while, development focuses on overall development which is required not only for present job but for future job as well. Training focuses on developing the skills, which are already possessed by an employee, whereas development focuses on developing hidden qualities and talents of employees.
