Lt. Gen. Raj Shukla (Retd.) Sh. Bidyut Behari Swain. President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Dr Ajay Kumar as the new UPSC chairman, a retired IAS officer and former Defence Secretary. He takes over from Preeti Sudan, whose term ended on April 29, 2025. Ajay Kumar is a 1985-batch officer of the Kerala cadre. During his long administrative career, he held several key positions both in the Government of India and in the Kerala state government. As of 14th May 2025, Mr. Ajay Kumar is serving as the UPSC Chairman, having succeeded Mrs. Preeti Sudan.
