He is the younger son of actor Nagarjuna Akkineni and actress Amala Akkineni . Akhil 's first movie "Sisindri (1995)" is a Telugu adaptation of the English comedy film "Baby's Day Out (1994)". He debuted as a child artist in the film Sisindri (1994), for which he won a Filmfare Special Award.
